Solar power project developer Solar Power Inc (SPI) is to provide engineering, procurement and development (EPC) services to Jingzhaolai PV Power Co on a solar energy project. The companies signed an agreement to this effect on Monday.

SPI Solar Power Engineering (Suzhou) a wholly-owned subsidiary of SPI will assist Inner Mongolia based Jingzhaolai PV Power Co to develop its 20 megawatt utility-scale PV project at Liangcheng County, Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia.

Work on the project is set to begin in April and connection with the grid should happen in June.

The National Energy Administration (NEA) of China recently revised this year’s target for capacity addition in solar power projects from 15 GW to 17.8 GW.

“The agreement strengthens SPI’s market position in Inner Mongolia — a fast growing PV market with substantial solar development potential,” Xiaofeng Peng, the chairman of SPI, said. “The Chinese government continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to solar energy. We are confident that SPI will benefit significantly from these positive macro trends.”

Last October SPI’s subsidiary Xinyu Xinwei New Energy had signed an EPC agreement for a 20 MW solar PV project in Wulaichabu City of Inner Mongolia.

It was the first contract the company had signed with Jingzhaolai Energy in the Inner Mongolia region.

The agreement between the companies marks the rapid expansion of SPI across China, Xiaofeng Peng, the chairman of SPI, had said.
