ReneSola wins second project from Cummings Properties in the U.S.

Greentech Lead Asia:ReneSola, a Chinese manufacturer of solar modules and wafers, has won a new contract to provide 460 kilowatts (kW) of its high-efficiency solar modules to Cummings Properties, a full-service commercial real estate development and property management organization in Massachusetts.This is the second project for which Cummings Center has selected ReneSola modules. The first project, built last fall, was 530 kW, bringing the total contracted by Cummings Center to nearly 1 megawatt (MW).

The solar modules will make up the rooftop solar system of Cummings Center, a two-million square foot corporate campus and retail center in Beverly, Massachusetts.

To date, Cummings Properties has completed seven rooftop solar projects totaling approximately 1.5 MW, in addition to this most recent project.

This contract is significant for the Chinese maker especially because it has been selected for the second time despite being a new entrant in the highly competitive U.S solar marketplace.

ReneSola brought its sales and operations efforts to the U.S July last year with the opening of its San Francisco headquarters. The company appointed Kevin Chen as the Company’s president of Americas. He heads sales and systems development throughout the North and South American regions.

“It’s gratifying to win a single project, but repeat business is a true indicator of a manufacturer’s quality, performance and service,” said Chen.

“As a fairly new player to the U.S. solar marketplace, we’re quickly gaining significance with several high profile projects, including that of Cummings Center,” Chen added.

The project win also indicates that despite the huge import tariffs implemented on Chinese PV products, Chinese solar PV makers are reluctant to give up.

ReneSola announces solar leasing program in the U.S

To further boost its performance in the country, ReneSola announced solar leasing program to U.S. customers. Sunnova launched its leasing program in late 2012 and selectedReneSola  as one of its approved vendors.

Under this program, the company’s installer and EPC customers may now offer leases to qualified residential customers. Down payments range from zero to$5,000, and monthly lease payments can be structured over 25 years.
