Greentech Lead America: NorthGrid Solar, an Ontario-based
engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company, announced that the
first phase of its 1.7MW DC rooftop solar project for The Valecon, a GTA-based
commercial property developer and owner, will be completed in a few days.
The first phase consists of 564kW DC and will go online
by October 2012. The second phase consists of 1.14 MW DC with construction
scheduled to begin in the fall of 2012 and commercial operation set for the
spring of 2013.
“The Valecon project is an important milestone for
us. As an experience real-estate developer & owner, the Valecon Group is an
important strategic customer and we looking forward to working with
Valecon on future projects” said Carlo Di Gioacchino, president and CEO of
NorthGrid Solar.
The projects are part of the Ontario Power Authority Feed
in Tariff (FIT) Program.
NorthGrid has installed its elevated truss system (ETS)
for the projects. ETS provides ongoing roof access, opportunity for greater
revenue and optimized system performance to the project owner.
“After a thorough investigation of rooftop solar
solutions available in the marketplace, we came to the conclusion that
NorthGrid’s ETS system combined with their in-house PV expertise was the only
solution for our rooftops. Their elevated design addressed all the concerns we
had with traditional ballast mount systems, particularly related to roof access
and system weight on the roof deck,” said Domenic Gesualdi, president
of The Valecon Group.
