Gamesa commissions maiden solar project in India

Gamesa announced the commissioning of its maiden solar project in India.
Located near Madurai, Tamil Nadu, the 9 MW solar project will supply clean energy to customers in Tamil Nadu.

On the occasion, Ramesh Kymal, chairman and managing director, Gamesa India, said Tamil Nadu government with its forward thinking policy has led to consistent growth of renewable energy projects in the State and hence the success of this project.

Gamesa entered the solar market in July 2015, announcing its decision to offer EPC solutions for MW Scale, Roof-Top projects and Rural/Micro-Grid Projects besides continuing to expand its Inverter Solutions.

We consider that this project is our first step towards harnessing this huge opportunity thereby establishing ourselves as a strong solar player as well. We thank all our customers, well – wishers and our family of Key Stakeholders for their support and trust in us.

K.V. Sajay, executive vice president – Solar Business Unit, Gamesa India, said the successful commissioning of this project has given them the much needed confidence to continue our concerted efforts in emerging as a strong player in the solar market which has the potential of 2,100 GW.

“This project is our first step towards harnessing this huge opportunity thereby establishing ourselves as a strong solar player as well,” Sajay added.
