Duke Energy and Sumitomo complete 131 MW wind farm in Kansas

By Greentech Lead America: Duke Energy Renewables, a
commercial business unit of Duke Energy and Sumitomo Corporation of America, a
wholly owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation, have jointly completed the
Cimarron II Windpower Project in Gray County. This is the first project of the
two Kansas wind farms owned by the joint venture between both companies.

Kansas City Power & Light purchases all of the
zero-emission electricity and renewable energy certificates generated by the
131-megawatt (MW) Cimarron II facility under the terms of a 20-year agreement.

Duke Energy Renewables has sold a
50- percent stake in Cimarron II and the 168-MW Ironwood Windpower Project in
Ford County to Sumitomo in April.

Duke Energy’s growing portfolio of commercial renewable
assets includes 11 wind farms and 11 solar farms in operation in eight states,
totaling more than 1,000 megawatts in electric-generating capacity.

Duke Energy Renewables buys Black Mountain Solar Project
from SOLON Corporation

Duke Energy Renewables recently acquired a 10-megawatt
(MW) utility-scale solar project near Kingman, Ariz., from SOLON Corp.
Financial terms of the deal are not disclosed.

The Black Mountain Solar Project under construction in
Mohave County is expected to achieve commercial operation in October of this
year.
