Westbridge Renewable Energy has shared significant updates on its global solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) portfolio, highlighting advancements in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., and Italy.

Earlier, Westbridge announced agreements to sell five Alberta-based Solar PV and BESS projects totaling over 1.4 GW to its partner, Metlen Energy & Metals. The sale of the Georgetown Project closed in December 2023, bringing in over $40 million.

Sunnynook Solar (270 MWac / 332 MWdc): Located in Special Area No. 2, Alberta, the project has received approvals from the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) and secured grid interconnection in August 2024. The agreement for Metlen Energy & Metals to purchase all shares of Sunnynook Solar Inc. has been extended to October 31, 2024.

Dolcy Solar: This multi-system project, combining a 300 MWac solar plant with a 200 MWh BESS, received AUC approval in September 2024. The project’s transmission line is now in the permitting phase.

Eastervale Solar (300 MWac / 345 MWdc): The project is awaiting AUC approval and is in stage 3 of the AESO interconnection process, which includes permitting the transmission line for grid connection.

Red Willow Solar (225 MWac / 290 MWdc): The project submitted its application for power plant and BESS approval in August 2024 and will enter stage 3 of the AESO interconnection process in Q4.

Westbridge is also evaluating over 1 GW of early-stage solar and storage projects in Alberta, Ontario, and British Columbia.

United States

Accalia Point (190 MWac / 221 MWdc): Located in Cameron County, Texas, this project has completed all development work and is nearing the shovel-ready stage.

United Kingdom

Fiskerton (53 MWac / 106 MWh): Located in Lincoln, the project has secured grid connection and site control and has submitted its planning application.

Italy

Gierre Solare (32 MW): Located in Lazio, the project has secured land and grid access, completed feasibility studies, and submitted its planning application.

NM Solare (30 MW): Located across Lazio and Umbria, this project has also secured land and grid access, completed feasibility studies, and submitted its planning application.

Westbridge’s updates reflect its continued progress in advancing its global renewable energy portfolio, positioning the company for substantial growth in the solar and energy storage markets.
