Sunnova Energy International, a prominent adaptive energy services company, has appointed Paul Mathews as its Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately.
Paul Mathews, who initially joined Sunnova in January 2023 as Executive Vice President for Service and Supply Chain, has been instrumental in driving improvements in customer service and operational efficiency during his tenure.
Under his leadership, Sunnova has seen remarkable enhancements in its customer service capabilities, including a 75 percent reduction in service backlog, a 79 percent decrease in the average age of service work, and a notable 46 percent year-over-year decrease in escalated customer complaints.
Prior to his role at Sunnova, Paul Mathews amassed nearly twenty years of experience serving in various leadership capacities at UPS, where he notably held positions such as President of U.S. Industrial Engineering and President of Engineering – Strategy and Planning.
His roles at UPS involved spearheading mid-term and long-term strategic planning initiatives, focusing on industrial engineering and global engineering transformation. This included devising and executing strategies to enhance operational efficiency and reduce expenses on a global scale.
Paul Mathews will report to William J. (John) Berger, Chief Executive Officer at Sunnova.
As Chief Operating Officer, Paul Mathews will oversee several key teams within Sunnova, including Field Service, Supply Chain, Procurement, Industrial Engineering, Customer Care, Real Estate, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, Fulfillment, and Software and Business Technology.
His primary focus will be on delivering exceptional customer service, driving operational leverage, and fostering innovation to align with the company’s strategic goals and enhance its competitive edge in the industry.
