Canadian Solar subsidiary CSI Solar said its e-STORAGE unit will provide 220 MWh DC of energy storage solutions to an energy storage initiative in Mannum, South Australia, owned by Epic Energy. The Mannum project, under development by Canadian Solar’s Recurrent Energy, is slated for construction commencement in the second quarter of 2024.
Epic Energy, a player in Australia’s energy infrastructure sector, boasts a vast gas pipeline network spanning more than 1,200 kilometers and an expanding portfolio in renewable energy. The Mannum storage endeavor epitomizes Epic Energy’s dedication to advancing renewable energy generation, complementing the existing 46 MWp solar farm capacity at the same site. It aims to serve as a pivotal energy reservoir, bolstering grid stability in the region.
e-STORAGE will execute a comprehensive Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) agreement, coupled with a Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) for the Mannum project. The initiative will leverage SolBank, an in-house energy storage solution integrating lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) cells. The system will incorporate a Battery Management System (BMS) and Thermal Management System (TMS), ensuring superior performance.
