Limes Renewable Energy Sells 287 MW Italian Solar and Wind Portfolio
Limes Renewable Energy has completed the sale of a 287 MW portfolio comprising solar photovoltaic and wind projects in Italy to an undisclosed international independent power producer (IPP). The transaction includes both operational and development-stage assets, underscoring the growing interest of global investors in Italy’s renewable energy sector. This strategic divestment aligns with Limes’ focus on recycling capital to support new renewable energy initiatives. The acquisition by the unnamed IPP reflects the ongoing consolidation and investment trends within the European clean energy market.
Metlen Sells 588MW Chilean Solar Portfolio to Glenfarne
Metlen Energy & Metals has agreed to sell its 588MW solar portfolio in Chile to a Glenfarne Asset Company subsidiary for $815 million, including debt assumption. The transaction also includes co-located Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with a 1610 MWh capacity, expected to be completed within a year. The projects are geographically diversified across Chile’s SEN, offering optimization potential. This deal forms part of Metlen’s global Asset Rotation Program, allowing the company to release capital and reinforce its renewable energy business strategy.
Low Carbon Contracts Multiple Optimisers for 95MW UK BESS Portfolio
UK-based renewable energy firm Low Carbon has entered into revenue-sharing agreements with Habitat Energy, Flexitricity, and EDF to optimise four battery energy storage systems (BESS) totaling 95MW across the UK. The sites — Meadow (10MW), Sandon Brook (35MW), Fern Brook (20MW), and Birch (30MW) — are scheduled to commence operations in early 2025. Low Carbon has also partnered with KrakenFlex to manage dispatch and controls across the portfolio, enabling efficient multi-optimiser coordination and independent revenue checks. This strategy aims to enhance grid flexibility and support the UK’s net-zero objectives.
Suzlon Secures 378 MW Wind Project from NTPC Green Energy
Suzlon Energy has secured a 378 MW wind energy project from NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), bringing the total capacity awarded by NGEL to Suzlon to 1,544 MW. The project involves supplying 120 S144 wind turbine generators, each with a capacity of 3.15 MW, equipped with Hybrid Lattice Towers. Suzlon will handle the project’s foundation, erection, commissioning, and provide maintenance services. This partnership supports NTPC’s goal of expanding its renewable energy portfolio to 60 GW by 2032, contributing to India’s clean energy transition.
