Today’s renewable energy news include announcements from IREDA, Vesper Energy, Gelion, TETRA Technologies, NovaCHARGE, EnergyAid, Trinasolar.

Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) has signed a Facility Agreement today for raising External Commercial Borrowing (ECB) from SBI, Tokyo Branch for JPY 26 billion, including a Green Shoe Option of JPY 10 billion.

This five-year unsecured facility, with bullet payment at maturity, is set to strengthen IREDA’s global market presence. The landed cost (after hedging) is expected to be below 7 percent, making it more cost-effective than similar-tenure loans in the domestic market.

Vesper Energy to start Hornet Solar energy project

Vesper Energy will conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 10, 2025, to celebrate the commercial operation of its flagship energy project, Hornet Solar. Hornet Solar includes over 1.36 million modules, spanning more than six square miles in Swisher County, Texas. The project will contribute more than $100 million in new tax revenue to Swisher County and deliver 600 MWac of energy–enough to power over 150,000 homes annually.

Gelion Partners with Max Planck Institute for Battery Development

Gelion has partnered with the Max Planck Institute (MPI) to improve sulfur batteries. These batteries have a long life, charge quickly, and use affordable materials. MPI has tested this technology in sodium-sulfur batteries, showing high performance. Gelion is now testing it in lithium-sulfur batteries, which could improve energy storage for electric vehicles and power grids. This partnership will combine both companies’ expertise to create commercially viable batteries.

TETRA Technologies and EOG Resources Reuse Produced Water

TETRA Technologies is working with EOG Resources on a project to clean and reuse water from oil and gas production. The TETRA Oasis system removes impurities, making the water safe for irrigation and industrial use. In previous tests, TETRA achieved a 92 percent recovery rate, producing water cleaner than municipal standards. The next test in the Permian Basin will study the water’s impact on plant growth. TETRA focuses on creating sustainable water solutions.

NovaCHARGE Expands EV Charging at Florida Theme Park

NovaCHARGE continues its partnership with a major Orlando theme park by upgrading its EV charging stations. The company replaced old chargers with reliable new ones and introduced ChargeUp software and NovaBOT. These technologies help manage the stations, reduce downtime, and ensure smooth operation. The park’s investment in EV infrastructure supports its sustainability goals and future expansion.

EnergyAid Acquires Sunworks and Solcius Assets

EnergyAid has acquired Sunworks and Solcius assets to expand solar system monitoring and maintenance. The acquisition includes customer data, helping EnergyAid provide better service. The company will also launch a membership program with benefits like system monitoring, remote troubleshooting, and priority scheduling.

Trinasolar partners with Venergy Solar

Trinasolar has partnered with Venergy Solar to deliver a multi-build solar installation across the City of Playford. The large-scale rooftop rollout covers theatres, sports clubs, and carparks, totalling 202kW of installed capacity, reducing the council’s reliance on grid electricity and cutting carbon emissions.
