Today’s renewable energy news includes announcements on Energiequelle, SWTCH Cortex, Colt DCS, Inox Solar, Taiyo, among others.
Energiequelle Secures Contracts for 143 MW in Wind Energy Projects
Energiequelle has obtained contracts for five wind farm projects across Germany, totaling 143 megawatts (MW). The projects are located in Schleswig-Holstein (Wulfshagen: eight turbines, 49.6 MW), Thuringia (Bilzingsleben: five turbines, 27.8 MW; Werther: four turbines, 27.2 MW), North Rhine-Westphalia (Minden: three turbines, 17.1 MW), and Lower Saxony (Lüben: five turbines, 21.3 MW). This achievement enables the company to commence construction in these regions.
SWTCH Cortex Achieves UL Certification, Simplifying EV Charger Installation
SWTCH Energy’s Cortex technology has received UL certification, allowing property owners to install multiple electric vehicle (EV) charging stations without needing to upgrade their electrical systems. This innovation helps reduce costs and simplifies the process of adding EV chargers, supporting the wider use of electric vehicles. SWTCH Cortex manages power distribution efficiently, ensuring that the existing electrical infrastructure can handle the increased load from multiple charging stations.
Colt DCS Grows in Germany with New Sites in Frankfurt and Berlin
Colt Data Centre Services (DCS) is growing in Germany by adding 117 megawatts of capacity. The company bought land and signed power supply deals for new data center sites in Frankfurt and Berlin. In Frankfurt, it has started building a new center near its current one, offering 32.4 MW of power. This site will connect directly to a major internet hub, DE-CIX, and support advanced cooling systems.
Inox Solar Secures Land in Odisha for 4.8 GW Solar Manufacturing Plant
Inox Solar, a subsidiary of Inox Clean Energy within the INOXGFL Group, has received land from the Odisha government to establish a 4.8-gigawatt (GW) solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Dhenkanal. This initiative represents an investment of ₹4,000 crore and is anticipated to create over 3,400 jobs, contributing to Odisha’s industrial growth and supporting India’s renewable energy objectives.
Taiyo Sells Solar Project to Infinis
Taiyo Power & Storage has sold its 37.3 MW solar project, called Ford Oaks, to Infinis Solar Developments. The project is near Exeter Airport in East Devon and will produce enough clean energy to power about 18,500 homes each year. It will also help reduce 25,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. The site includes plans to improve the local environment with more trees and hedgerows. The solar project is expected to start working by 2026.
RWE Starts Upgrade of Muel Wind Farm in Spain
RWE will upgrade its Muel wind farm in Aragon, Spain, by replacing 27 old turbines with 3 new ones, each with a capacity of 6.6 MW. This change will increase the total power from 16.2 MW to 19.8 MW. Construction is planned to start in spring 2025, and the new turbines are expected to be working by the end of the year. The upgrade will improve energy output and help reduce environmental impact.
