Swatten Shows Energy Storage Solutions in Austria

Swatten, a part of Sieyuan Electric, is presenting its energy storage systems in Austria. The country will require new buildings to have solar panels starting January 15, 2025. Swatten’s system helps store and use solar power efficiently.

Swatten’s All-in-One Energy Storage System combines storage and charging. It adjusts power use, lowers costs, and saves space. It includes an 11kW AC charger for efficient electric vehicle charging.The system also supports Real-Time Dynamic Pricing Mode, which lets users save money by adjusting energy use based on electricity prices.

SolarBank Provides Update on New York Solar Project

SolarBank Corporation shared updates on its 5.4 MW Boyle Rd solar project in New York. The project passed a key approval step and will now apply for permits. It may qualify for state incentives under the NY-Sun Program. Once approved and funded, construction will start. The project will be a community solar system, sending power to the local grid. Subscribers get credits on their electric bills without needing panels at home.

Sunnova Appoints Paul Mathews as CEO

Sunnova Energy International has named Paul Mathews as its new President and CEO. He was previously the Chief Operating Officer. He takes over from William J. (John) Berger, who is stepping down but will stay as an advisor for a transition period.Mathews will focus on growing the company, managing costs, and improving customer service. Sunnova has announced a $70 million cost reduction plan, secured a $185 million loan, and is preparing for debt payments.

CGD Develops New GaN Technology for EV Market

Cambridge GaN Devices (CGD) has introduced a new gallium nitride (GaN) technology for electric vehicles (EVs). The ICeGaN solution combines GaN and IGBT devices to improve efficiency and reduce costs compared to silicon carbide. This solution allows GaN to work efficiently at low currents while IGBTs handle high currents. It is designed for EV power systems, including DC-to-DC converters, on-board chargers, and traction inverters.CGD expects working demos by the end of the year. The company specializes in GaN power devices for energy-efficient electronics.

Kinetic Technologies Introduces New Power Regulator

Kinetic Technologies has launched the KTB8400 OptiComp buck-switching regulator. It improves power efficiency and response time.The regulator is designed for CPUs, GPUs, memory, and sensors. It offers programmable voltage settings and built-in safety features, including over-current and thermal protection.The KTB8400 is now available for industrial, mobile, IoT, and gaming applications.

Energy Storage System Provides Backup Power During Storm

Convergent Energy and Power battery system provided backup power to 400 Potomac Edison customers during a storm. The 1.75 MW system in Maryland supplied power for 11 hours until repairs were completed.Convergent COO Don Jenkins said the system ensured power availability when the grid was down, highlighting the need for more energy storage solutions.The project is part of Maryland’s Energy Storage Pilot Program. The battery system helps utilities manage power demand and outages.

Virtue Solar is now a FranklinWH Certified Installer. The company offers the aPower 2 battery system for home backup in Virginia.The aPower 2 provides 15 kWh storage per unit, has a 15-year warranty, and integrates with solar systems. It supports whole-home backup and works in different conditions.Virtue Solar has experience installing battery backup systems in Virginia.
