SolarBank Plans 7.2 MW Solar Project in New York

SolarBank Corporation plans to build a 7.2 MW solar project in upstate New York. The company has secured a site lease and is doing an interconnection study. If successful, it will get permits and financing. The project may qualify for incentives under the NYSERDA NY-Sun Program. It will be a community solar project, allowing residents to subscribe and get credits on their electricity bills. Solar Simplified will manage customer enrollment. The project depends on approvals, permits, financing, and government policies.

GM and PG&E Partner on EV Home Charging Program

General Motors has joined PG&E’s program in California to help EV owners power their homes during outages. Customers can get up to $4,500 in incentives for GM Energy home products that support bidirectional charging. GM EVs like the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV and Cadillac Lyriq EV can send power back to homes and may help balance energy demand. The program will collect data to see how this technology can support the electricity grid.

Terabase Raises $130 mn for Solar Technology

Terabase Energy has raised $130 million from SoftBank Vision Fund 2 to improve solar power plant construction. The company develops technology to lower costs and speed up installations. The funding will help expand Terafab, a robotics-assisted system that increases efficiency and safety. Terabase has installed 40 MW using Terafab and plans to expand it further. The company also provides software for solar project management and has supported over 12 GW of projects.

Nuvve Opens New Mexico Office for Clean Energy Projects

Nuvve Holding has created Nuvve New Mexico to support a state contract for clean energy projects. New Mexico is investing in electric transportation and grid upgrades, with over $6 billion proposed for programs like EV charging and electric school buses. Ted Smith will lead the new office. Nuvve’s technology helps manage energy use and supports the electricity grid. The company will work with local partners to expand its solutions.

ChargePoint Opens EV Charging Stations in New York

ChargePoint has set up five fast-charging stations in upstate New York with help from NYSERDA. The locations include Cortland, Waterloo, and Niagara Falls. NYSERDA is funding the expansion of EV charging, with half of the stations in underserved areas. Drivers can use the ChargePoint app to find and pay for charging. The company is working with public and private partners to improve EV access.
