Intertek SWAT 2012 Conference to discuss small wind turbine market

Greentech Lead America: Intertek, a provider of testing,
inspection and certification services, announced it is hosting the
International Small Wind Association of Testers (SWAT) 2012 Conference on April
24 — 26 at the Statler Hotel on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca,
NY.

The conference aims to help bridge discussions
surrounding the small wind turbine market as it relates to testing and
certification facing manufacturers, installers, and other key stakeholders
within the industry.

Some of the topics discussed in the panel will include
testing and certification; country updates; standards information; and
performance of small wind turbines. There will be technical breakout sessions
on Day 3. The Conference also will feature a networking session and dinner for
registered attendees, followed by a tour of Intertek’s local wind test site in
Otisco, NY.

Intertek receives SCC accreditation for wind turbine services

Earlier this year Intertek announced it has been
accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to perform large and small
wind turbine certifications for the Canadian market to the CAN/CSA C61400
series of standards for design, safety and performance.

Intertek currently holds several wind energy
accreditations by IAS, A2LA, UKAS and is an OSHA NRTL for wind energy products.
Intertek is accredited to test to global standards including AWEA, BWEA (MCS),
IEC, UL, CSA and other Electrical Standards.

Troy Hewitt, Intertek business line leader, stated that
the SWAT 2012 Conference is part of the company’s commitment to the industry.
“More specifically, it is a privilege to host this Conference so close to our
test site in Otisco, and be able to contribute speakers to the panels is a
great opportunity for us and for the visitors coming from around the
world.”
