Today’s renewable energy news includes announcements on Prevalon Energy, Idaho Power, Freen, Nordex Nordex wind turbines for Germany and US projects, among others.

Prevalon Energy and Idaho Power begin commercial operation of Happy Valley Battery Storage Project

Prevalon Energy and Idaho Power have announced the commercial operation of the Happy Valley Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Nampa, Idaho. The project includes a 25 MW / 100 MWh lithium-ion battery system and marks the utility’s first major standalone storage project. Developed and owned by Prevalon Energy, the facility provides grid support during peak demand periods and integrates with Idaho Power’s broader renewable energy strategy. The system will enhance load balancing, improve reliability, and reduce reliance on fossil fuel peaker plants. The project was delivered under a 20-year energy storage service agreement and supports Idaho Power’s long-term plan to provide 100 percent clean energy by 2045.

Freen launches 20 kW wind turbine for farms and industrial use

Freen has launched a 20 kW mid-sized wind turbine designed for distributed energy applications across farms, small businesses, and industrial sites. The turbine is engineered to operate efficiently at average wind speeds of 5 m/s and can generate up to 60,000 kWh annually, depending on site conditions. The system features modular construction for ease of transport and installation, with a 24-meter tower height and three-blade rotor design. It supports grid-tied and off-grid configurations. The launch aligns with Freen’s strategy to expand decentralized renewable energy access and reduce dependence on conventional power sources. It offers users energy cost savings, enhanced power reliability, and a lower environmental footprint. The turbine is now available for order in select European markets, with global rollout planned for 2026.

UKA orders 435 MW of Nordex wind turbines for Germany and US projects

UKA has placed an order with Nordex for 435 MW of wind turbines, covering 80 units from the Delta4000 series, including N149 and N163 models. The turbines will be installed across multiple sites in Germany and the United States, with deliveries scheduled for 2025 and 2026. The agreement includes long-term service contracts to ensure operational efficiency. The technology features optimized performance for low to medium wind speeds and includes advanced digital monitoring. The order aligns with UKA’s strategy to scale renewable energy development across international markets. Benefits include increased renewable capacity, grid support, and progress toward climate and energy targets.
