YEO Wins $9.54 Million Contract for 40 MWh Battery at Azerbaijan Solar Farm

Turkish energy company YEO Teknoloji has secured a $9.54 million (€8.19 million) turnkey contract from Azerbaijani grid operator Azerenerji to install a 40 MWh battery energy storage system at a solar power plant in Azerbaijan. The contract expands YEO’s regional energy-storage business and adds battery flexibility to Azerbaijan’s rapidly growing renewable-power infrastructure. The BESS will allow solar electricity to be stored during periods of high generation and discharged when grid demand increases, helping improve renewable integration and system stability. Azerbaijan is investing in solar, wind, transmission and storage as it diversifies an electricity system historically dominated by natural gas. The contract represents another step toward pairing utility-scale renewable generation with flexible storage rather than deploying standalone solar capacity.

Low Carbon Seeks Approval for 86 MW Forsinain Forest Wind Farm in Scotland

Low Carbon has submitted a Section 36 application to the Scottish government for the proposed 86 MW Forsinain Forest Wind Farm in the Highlands. The development would comprise up to 12 turbines and is located around 3 km north of Forsinard and 16 km south of Melvich. Once operational, the project is expected to generate approximately 318,000 MWh of renewable electricity annually. The site is primarily located within non-native commercial forestry and lies outside the Flow Country UNESCO World Heritage Site. Supporting infrastructure will include new and upgraded access tracks, a substation and construction facilities. At 86 MW, Forsinain would become another sizeable addition to Scotland’s expanding onshore wind pipeline if planning approval, financing and grid-connection requirements are completed.

CNTE Adds 100 MW / 200 MWh of Battery Storage at Germany’s Leuna Projects

CATL-backed Contemporary Nebula Technology Energy, or CNTE, has supplied battery energy storage systems totaling 100 MW / 200 MWh for the BESS Leuna 1 and Leuna 2 projects in Merseburg, Saxony-Anhalt. Each facility provides approximately 50 MW / 100 MWh and the two systems were commissioned in March 2026. They are primarily used for electricity-price arbitrage, charging during lower-price periods and discharging when wholesale prices rise. CNTE has separately deployed another 100 MW / 200 MWh through Leuna 3 and Leuna 4, commissioned in June, and previously supplied the 50 MW / 100 MWh Krumpa I BESS. The projects demonstrate the rapid scaling of merchant battery-storage capacity in Germany’s increasingly renewable-heavy electricity market.
