The latest renewable energy news include announcements from Waaree Energies, Aligned Climate Capital, Clean Hydrogen Auction in France, and others.

Waaree Invests $37 Million to Expand Arizona Solar Module Factory to 1.6 GW

Waaree Energies will invest approximately $37 million in its Arizona solar module factory, increasing annual production capacity from 1 GW to 1.6 GW. Waaree Solar Americas will replace the plant’s existing manufacturing lines with higher-efficiency equipment. Once completed, Waaree’s overall US module manufacturing capacity will reach 4.8 GW, including 3.2 GW in Texas and 1.6 GW in Arizona. The expansion will be funded through a combination of debt and internal accruals. Separately, Waaree is consolidating 2.11 GW of existing Indian module-production equipment from its 1 GW Tumb and 1.11 GW Nandigram facilities into its Chikhli manufacturing complex in Gujarat. The Arizona investment represents an additional 600 MW of US manufacturing capacity and strengthens Waaree’s localisation strategy.

Aligned Climate Capital Targets $500 Million for US Solar and Battery Storage Projects

Aligned Climate Capital has completed the first close of Aligned Solar Partners 7, a new infrastructure fund targeting $500 million for distributed solar and energy-storage investment across the US. ASP7 will acquire construction-ready projects from development partners, finance their construction and manage the assets through operations. Existing investors in Aligned’s solar strategy participated in the first close, including the Bush Foundation. The manager has operated this investment strategy since 2018 through six previous funds. As of June 30, 2026, those funds had acquired 56 projects across 10 US states, producing more than 218 GWh of clean electricity. Aligned expects ASP7 to begin making investments in the coming months as US electricity demand and demand for distributed generation and storage continue rising.

France Plans Second Clean Hydrogen Auction for 250 MW of Electrolyser Capacity

France is preparing to launch the second round of its low-carbon hydrogen support mechanism, targeting approximately 250 MW of electrolyser capacity. The programme is administered by France’s Directorate General for Energy and Climate and ADEME and ultimately targets about 1 GW of electrolysis projects across three auction rounds. The latest 250 MW tranche follows the first round, which awarded support to around 161 MW. Eligible developers are expected to be selected in early September before submitting final offers by the end of 2026. Winning projects will receive support for hydrogen production over 15 years, primarily targeting direct industrial consumption. The scheme is designed to give developers long-term revenue visibility while scaling domestic electrolyser deployment and replacing fossil-derived hydrogen in industrial processes.
