OMV Begins Electrolyser Installation at 140 MW Green Hydrogen Project in Austria

Austrian energy company OMV has received the first electrolyser components for its 140 MW Bruck an der Leitha green hydrogen project. Announced October 21 and reported October 22, the milestone marks the beginning of installation of the facility’s core hydrogen production equipment. The plant is expected to produce up to 23,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen annually when commissioned at the end of 2027. Siemens Energy is supplying electrolyser technology, while Strabag is responsible for construction. Financing support includes €123 million from Austria’s development funding framework and €450 million from the European Investment Bank. OMV is continuing development independently following Masdar’s withdrawal from the planned joint venture.

Stiesdal Hydrogen Starts Commercial Operation of 6.5 MW Electrolyser for European Energy in Denmark

Danish hydrogen technology developer Stiesdal has brought an upgraded 6.5 MW pressurised alkaline electrolyser into commercial operation at European Energy’s green hydrogen project in Esbjerg, Denmark. The milestone was reported October 22. The system uses Stiesdal’s modular HydroGen technology, designed to reduce equipment costs and simplify installation compared with conventional electrolyser plants. The technology produces hydrogen using renewable electricity and operates under pressure, reducing the need for downstream compression. The installation provides a commercial reference for Stiesdal’s larger electrolyser platform and supports European Energy’s hydrogen production activities. Stiesdal is positioning the system for wider deployment in industrial hydrogen projects. Project investment and contracted hydrogen volumes were not disclosed.

PV Hardware Expands Houston Solar Tracker Manufacturing Facility by 34,200 Square Feet

Solar equipment manufacturer PV Hardware has announced an expansion of its manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas, to increase production of solar tracking equipment for utility-scale photovoltaic projects. Announced October 21, the expansion will add approximately 34,200 square feet of manufacturing space and increase the company’s Houston storage capacity by 42 percent. The additional infrastructure is expected to support a 35 percent increase in production of pre-assembled solar tracker components. PV Hardware is expanding factory-based assembly to reduce installation work at construction sites, improve equipment quality and shorten project execution schedules. The company supplies solar tracking and foundation systems to renewable-energy developers. Investment value, additional workforce requirements and completion dates were not disclosed.
