Enel Colombia Commissions 256 MW Atlantico Solar Farm, Completing 985 MW Solar Complex
Enel Colombia has declared commercial operation of its 256 MWdc Atlantico solar project, completing Colombia’s largest solar generation complex. Announced October 21, the Atlantico installation is located in Sabanalarga and Usiacurí municipalities. It comprises more than 400,000 photovoltaic modules distributed across 34 generation sections and is expected to produce approximately 525 GWh annually. Together with Guayepo I&II and Guayepo III, the complex now has 985 MWdc of installed photovoltaic capacity. Enel estimates that the three projects can supply electricity equivalent to consumption by approximately three million people. Atlantico’s construction generated more than 2,500 jobs, with over 75 percent filled by local workers.
Promigas Opens $224 Million Aurora Solar and Battery Project in Chile with 221 MW Capacity
Colombian energy company Promigas has inaugurated the 221 MW Aurora photovoltaic project in Pozo Almonte, northern Chile. The installation represents approximately $224 million in investment and incorporates a battery storage system rated at approximately 187 MW with more than five hours of discharge capability. The project forms part of the Tarapacá Energy Hub, which includes three planned solar and storage developments representing investment exceeding $1.06 billion. Promigas also launched Krelo, its energy solutions platform targeting industrial and commercial customers in Chile, Colombia and Peru. Aurora uses solar generation and batteries to support electricity delivery outside daylight hours. Additional projects within the hub remain at different development and permitting stages.
