EnBW Inaugurates 960 MW He Dreiht, Germany’s Largest Offshore Wind Farm
EnBW has inaugurated the 960 MW He Dreiht offshore wind farm in the German North Sea, completing one of the country’s largest renewable-energy projects. The wind farm comprises 64 turbines, giving each unit approximately 15 MW of capacity, and is now Germany’s largest operating offshore wind project. He Dreiht was developed without conventional state subsidy support and represents a major capacity addition to EnBW’s offshore portfolio. The project can generate renewable electricity for large-scale residential and industrial demand while using high-capacity turbines to reduce the number of foundations required. The inauguration is the latest material milestone, moving He Dreiht from construction and commissioning into full operational status.
Vineyard Wind and GE Vernova Settle Litigation Over 800 MW US Offshore Wind Project
GE Vernova and Vineyard Wind have reached a settlement resolving all outstanding litigation connected with the 800 MW Vineyard Wind 1 offshore wind project in the United States. The settlement removes a legal dispute involving the project and its turbine supplier as Vineyard Wind continues work on the Massachusetts development. Vineyard Wind 1 uses GE Vernova’s Haliade-X offshore wind turbines and is designed to deliver electricity to the New England grid. The 800 MW project is being developed south of Martha’s Vineyard and is among the first commercial-scale offshore wind farms in the US. The new development is specifically the resolution of outstanding litigation rather than another construction update.
UK Approves Grid Connection for 1.98 GW Morgan and Morecambe Offshore Wind Projects
The UK government has granted planning consent for the joint transmission infrastructure serving the 480 MW Morecambe offshore wind farm and neighbouring 1.5 GW Morgan project. Combined, the two developments represent approximately 1.98 GW of offshore wind capacity. The consent covers infrastructure required to bring electricity from the Irish Sea projects to the onshore transmission network. Morecambe is being developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, while Morgan is a separate neighbouring offshore project. Approval of the shared connection infrastructure removes an important permitting requirement for both developments and enables subsequent engineering, procurement and construction work to progress. The new milestone concerns their transmission system rather than another announcement of the underlying wind-generation capacity.
Gülermak Secures PLN 152.9 Million Financing for 62.7 MW Polish Solar Portfolio
Gülermak Renewables has closed PLN 152.9 million, approximately £30.4 million, in project financing for its 62.7 MW Project Vistula solar portfolio in Poland. The financing provides dedicated capital for a defined photovoltaic portfolio rather than an early-stage development target. Project finance is a key execution milestone because lenders commit capital against the underlying renewable assets and their expected electricity revenues. The 62.7 MW portfolio expands Gülermak’s presence in Poland’s renewable-energy market as the country increases solar generation alongside wind and grid investment. The financing will support implementation of the Vistula assets through their construction and operating stages. The latest development is the completed financing package, giving the portfolio a quantified capital structure for deployment.
