Cypress Creek Starts Commercial Operation at $180 Million, 104 MW Ostrea Solar Project
Cypress Creek Energy has brought the 104 MWdc/80 MWac Ostrea Solar project in Yakima County, Washington, into commercial operation, completing approximately $180 million of privately funded energy infrastructure. Microsoft has signed a PPA covering electricity and environmental products generated by Ostrea. Construction originally began in February 2025, with PCL Solar serving as EPC contractor. Financing included about $150 million arranged by MUFG alongside BNP Paribas, DNB and Santander, while U.S. Bank provided tax equity. The project can supply electricity equivalent to roughly 15,000–16,000 Washington homes annually. Cypress Creek has also committed around 275 acres to habitat conservation and restoration. The commissioning represents a material new milestone following the project’s earlier financing and construction phases.
EDF Power Solutions Opens €160 Million, 150 MW / 600 MWh Battery in Belgium
Luminus, a subsidiary of EDF power solutions, has inaugurated the 150 MW/600 MWh Navagne battery energy-storage facility at Lixhe in Belgium, following an investment of approximately €160 million. The four-hour BESS comprises 132 battery containers and is described by Luminus as the largest battery-storage park in Wallonia. The facility has been operational since July 2026 and can store enough electricity to match the daily consumption of around 87,600 households. Navagne will charge when electricity supply is abundant and discharge during periods of higher demand, improving grid flexibility and supporting greater integration of wind and solar generation. Its 600 MWh capacity makes the project one of Belgium’s more significant recent grid-scale storage deployments.
Renewable Connections Wins Approval for 15 MW Cheshire Solar Farm
Renewable Connections has secured planning consent for a 15 MW solar farm in Cheshire, northwest England, advancing the project toward construction in partnership with the UK unit of European Energy. The approval is the key new regulatory milestone and allows development of the utility-scale photovoltaic facility to progress through final pre-construction activities. The companies are targeting additional renewable generation in a UK electricity market that is rapidly expanding solar alongside wind and battery storage. The 15 MW project forms part of Renewable Connections’ wider development pipeline and illustrates continued investment in mid-sized solar farms capable of connecting directly into regional distribution networks. Planning approval is particularly significant in the UK because consent and grid access increasingly determine which projects can move from development pipelines into construction.
