Aukera Reaches Financial Close on 44 MW Solar Project in Germany
Aukera Energy has achieved financial close on a 44 MW solar photovoltaic project in southwestern Germany, clearing a major milestone before construction. Financial close confirms that the developer has secured the capital structure required to move the project into implementation, reducing development risk and providing greater certainty around delivery. The solar farm will add utility-scale renewable generation to Germany’s rapidly expanding PV fleet at a time when the country is installing more than a gigawatt of solar capacity in many months. Aukera is developing renewable-energy assets across European markets and is using project financing to convert its development pipeline into operating capacity. The 44 MW project contributes to Germany’s broader strategy of replacing fossil generation with solar and wind while increasing domestic electricity supply.
Brookfield and La Caisse Complete $6.5 Billion Acquisition of Boralex
Brookfield Asset Management and La Caisse have completed their acquisition of Canadian renewable-power producer Boralex in a transaction valued at approximately USD 6.5 billion. The deal takes Boralex private and gives the investors control of a diversified portfolio spanning wind, solar, hydroelectric power and battery storage. Boralex has built a significant operating and development presence in Canada, France, the United States and the United Kingdom, making the acquisition one of the largest recent renewable-energy infrastructure transactions. Brookfield brings extensive global experience in renewable generation and energy transition investment, while La Caisse adds long-term institutional capital. The transaction illustrates strong investor appetite for scaled renewable platforms that combine operating cash flows with large development pipelines and opportunities for further wind, solar and storage investment.
Power to Hydrogen Installs 0.5 MW AEM Electrolyser System at Port of Antwerp-Bruges
Power to Hydrogen has started installing 0.5 MW of anion exchange membrane electrolyser stacks at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges in Belgium, advancing commercial validation of its green-hydrogen technology. The installation will demonstrate production of renewable hydrogen using electricity and AEM electrolysis, which seeks to combine characteristics of alkaline and proton-exchange-membrane systems while reducing dependence on expensive catalyst materials. Port locations are strategically important for green hydrogen because they combine industrial hydrogen demand, shipping, logistics infrastructure and access to renewable electricity imports. The project gives Power to Hydrogen a European demonstration site in one of the world’s major industrial ports. Successful operation could support larger electrolyser deployments serving chemicals, refining, shipping fuels and other hard-to-electrify industrial applications.
