Today’s renewable energy news includes announcements on Waaree Solar, Reneergy Network Europe, Colombia, among others.
Colombia Launches 650 MW Solar Vehicle to Drive Regional Decarbonisation
Colombia’s government has created a new 650 MW solar investment vehicle to accelerate regional decarbonisation and expand clean-energy access outside major urban centers. The initiative will bundle solar projects to attract private and international investment while deploying modern PV technology tailored for rural and industrial users. The strategy focuses on delivering consumer benefits such as greater energy reliability, reduced electricity costs and improved resilience in remote areas. The programme also supports Colombia’s long term growth plans by stimulating local development, enabling job creation and strengthening grid stability. By prioritising innovation, efficient permitting and partnerships with regional authorities, the government aims to scale renewables rapidly and advance its nationwide energy-transition goals.
Waaree Solar to Supply 288 MWp of PV Modules for Sabanci’s Texas Projects
Waaree Solar has secured a major contract to supply 288 MWp of high efficiency PV modules for Sabanci Climate Technologies’ solar parks in Texas. The deal strengthens Waaree’s U.S. expansion strategy and highlights growing investment in advanced solar manufacturing. The modules use modern, high performance technology designed to maximise energy yield in Texas’ high irradiation conditions. For Sabanci, the supply agreement supports its plan to scale utility-scale renewables across the U.S. market while improving project reliability and long term output. Consumers benefit through increased clean-power availability, grid stability and lower carbon electricity. The partnership also reflects strong demand for diversified supply chains and supports both companies’ growth plans in North America’s fast developing solar sector.
SUSI-Backed RNE Sells 52-MW Italian Battery Project to ENGIE Unit
Reneergy Network Europe (RNE), backed by SUSI Partners, has sold a 52-MW standalone battery energy storage project in Italy to ENGIE Italia’s renewables subsidiary. The transaction supports Italy’s growing need for flexible capacity as more solar and wind enter the grid. The project uses advanced lithium-ion storage technology to deliver fast-response services, helping stabilise the power system and reduce reliance on fossil peakers. For ENGIE, the acquisition aligns with its strategy to expand its Italian clean-energy portfolio and invest in grid-supporting assets with strong long-term value. The sale enables RNE to recycle capital into new developments. Once operational, the BESS will enhance reliability, integrate renewables more efficiently, and support Italy’s broader energy-transition goals.
