NHG Signs 25-Year PPA for 51 MW Run-of-River Project in Malawi

Nyika Hydropower Group (NHG) has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement for its 51 MW North Rumphi run-of-river hydropower project in Malawi. The project will generate renewable electricity by harnessing river flow without large reservoirs, minimizing environmental impact. It aims to increase Malawi’s renewable energy capacity, improve electricity access, and support economic growth. This initiative aligns with Malawi’s strategy to diversify its energy mix and reduce fossil fuel dependence. NHG’s commitment highlights the growing role of sustainable hydropower in Malawi’s energy future.

Plenitude to Install 5.4 MWp Solar for Marelli Sites in Italy

Plenitude, an Eni subsidiary, will install 5.4 MWp of solar capacity at Marelli’s production sites in Melfi, Sulmona, and Turin, Italy. The project uses an energy performance contract model, allowing Marelli to access renewable energy at fixed costs with no upfront investment. At the Melfi site, Plenitude will develop an Energy Community under the Individual Remote Self-Consumption (AID) model, enabling energy sharing with a neighboring company. The plants will benefit from 20-year state incentives, with part of the funds supporting local social initiatives, boosting sustainability and community welfare.

Forty Mile Wind Farm Powers Up in Alberta, Canada

The Forty Mile Wind Farm, developed by ACCIONA Energía, is a 280 MW project in southern Alberta featuring 49 Nordex N155 turbines, each rated at 5.7 MW. It is ACCIONA’s largest wind farm in North America and among Canada’s top ten. The farm started supplying electricity in October 2024, with full operation expected by spring 2025. It will generate enough clean energy to power over 85,000 homes. The project created around 250 construction jobs and will maintain 25 permanent roles, while supporting local community organizations.
