EBRD Considers Loan for 325 MW Solar Projects in Latvia

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is evaluating a potential loan to support the development of 325 megawatts (MW) of solar power capacity in Latvia. This initiative is currently in the exploratory phase, with a final decision anticipated by July 9, 2025. The proposed funding aligns with EBRD’s commitment to advancing renewable energy projects in the region, aiming to enhance Latvia’s energy security and contribute to its climate objectives. If approved, the loan would significantly bolster the country’s solar energy infrastructure and support its transition to a more sustainable energy mix.

All Turbines Installed at 600 MW Monsoon Wind Farm in Laos

The Monsoon Wind Power Project in Laos has completed installation of all 133 turbines for its 600 MW wind farm, the largest onshore project in Southeast Asia. Located in Sekong and Attapeu provinces, it will power around 298,000 homes annually and reduce over 35 million tons of CO₂ emissions over its lifetime. Electricity will be exported to Vietnam under a 25-year power purchase agreement. Supported by a $693 million loan from Asian and Japanese banks, the farm aims for partial operation by Q2 2025 and full operation by Q3 2025.
