CODA to develop electric vehicle with Great Wall Motor

 By Greentech Lead Asia: CODA Holding, an electric vehicle
and battery system developer, has signed an agreement with Great Wall Motor
Company for the joint development of Great Wall Motor’s first electric vehicle.

This agreement allows Great Wall Motor to integrate the
critical technology capacity with the quick product research and development
(R&D) capacity of CODA. Both companies will cooperate in development and
sales of electric vehicles worldwide.

By integrating the manufacturing capacity of Great Wall
Motor and technology advantage of CODA in electric
driving system and battery, the partnership plans to create the most
economical electric vehicle in the market. The new vehicles will be designed
according to the market requirements of China, North America and Europe.

According to a report in borneopost.com the new
electric vehicles will be manufactured and assembled in the plant of Baoding
City, Hebei Province and will be put into production in the second quarter of
2014.

“Great Wall Motor has achieved the leading export in the
European Union and has sold its cars in more than 100 countries. The signature
of this agreement signifies the formal cooperation with Great Wall Motor, which
enable us to provide our customers with extensive choices to own the high
performance and economic electric vehicles,” said Phil Murtaugh, chief
executive officer, CODA.

As a significant representation of integration for the
joint development and investment, the R&D teams of both parties in Los
Angeles and Baoding City will work closely for the R&D of the cooperative
products.

“Looking to the future, we will maintain long-term
partnership with CODA with the aim to provide the industry-leading electric
vehicles for the consumers,” said Wei Jianjun, chairman of the board, Great
Wall Motor.

CODA Automotive unveils zero-emission CODA sedan

Recently, CODA launched the zero-emission CODA sedan with
two mileage range and price options. The new 31kWh battery option will provide
a driving range of up to 125 miles and will be available at a lower base MSRP
of $37,250.
