Sectra is accelerating its sustainability strategy by combining cloud-based healthcare, artificial intelligence, climate action, and responsible governance to build more efficient and environmentally sustainable healthcare systems.
According to the company’s FY 2025/2026 Sustainability Report, Sectra maintained zero Scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions, expanded adoption of its cloud healthcare platform, advanced its value chain emissions reduction strategy, and strengthened digital healthcare innovation through AI.
Cloud Healthcare Revenue Rises 54.9 Percent
One of Sectra’s biggest sustainability achievements during FY 2025/2026 was the continued expansion of Sectra One Cloud, enabling hospitals and healthcare providers to manage medical imaging and clinical information using centralized cloud infrastructure instead of traditional on-premises server, Sectra sustainability report 2025 indicated.
Cloud recurring revenue increased 54.9 percent to SEK 915.8 million, reflecting strong demand for cloud-based healthcare services. By moving healthcare workloads to shared cloud infrastructure, hospitals can reduce energy consumption associated with maintaining local server environments while improving operational efficiency.
Sectra’s cloud strategy also enables multiple healthcare organizations to share optimized computing resources. The company utilizes Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, which increasingly relies on renewable electricity generated through wind and solar Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), helping customers reduce the environmental impact of digital healthcare operations.
Zero Scope 1 Emissions Demonstrate Low-Carbon Operations
Sectra reported 0 tCO₂e Scope 1 emissions throughout the reporting year, reflecting its asset-light operating model without manufacturing facilities, industrial production sites, warehouses, or company-operated transportation fleets.
Environmental management across the company’s global offices is supported by an ISO 14001-certified Environmental Management System, which integrates sustainability into office leasing and facility management. Wherever possible, Sectra selects office buildings powered by renewable electricity and collaborates with property owners that support environmentally responsible energy management.
Scope 3 Reduction Target Set for 2027
Recognizing that the majority of its environmental impact occurs throughout its value chain, Sectra continues expanding initiatives to reduce Scope 3 emissions.
The company has established a target to reduce tracked baseline Scope 3 emissions by 18 percent by 2027. Its strategy focuses on reducing business travel, increasing digital collaboration, and expanding remote healthcare services.
One example is the rollout of the Sectra Education Portal in Norway, enabling healthcare professionals to complete medical education and training remotely. By replacing many in-person training sessions with digital learning, the platform reduces travel-related greenhouse gas emissions while improving access to professional development.
AI Improves Clinical Productivity
Artificial intelligence has become an important component of Sectra’s sustainability and healthcare strategy.
During FY 2025/2026, the company completed the acquisition of Oxipit, whose autonomous chest X-ray solution became the world’s first CE Class IIB-certified AI system of its kind.
The AI technology automatically identifies normal chest X-ray examinations without requiring radiologist review, enabling healthcare professionals to spend more time diagnosing complex cases. By automating routine image assessments, the solution improves clinical efficiency, reduces administrative workloads, and helps healthcare providers address growing workforce shortages.
Employee Investment Supports Sustainable Growth
Sectra continued strengthening its social sustainability initiatives by investing in employee engagement, inclusion, and long-term development.
Employee surveys confirmed the company achieved all annual internal objectives related to maintaining an equal opportunity workplace. Creating an inclusive work environment remains central to attracting and retaining highly skilled employees.
The company also increased capitalization of its Long-Term Incentive Program to SEK 80.7 million, up from SEK 63.5 million in the previous fiscal year, reinforcing employee engagement while aligning workforce development with long-term business performance.
Sustainability Integrated Into Executive Leadership
Rather than operating a standalone sustainability department, Sectra integrates sustainability directly into executive management. Overall responsibility for sustainability strategy rests with President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Torbjörn Kronander, ensuring environmental responsibility, cybersecurity, healthcare efficiency, and long-term value creation remain embedded in corporate strategy and investment decisions.
The company said it continues to prioritize long-term growth while maintaining strong financial discipline. According to Dr. Kronander, operating margins above 15 percent will continue to be reinvested into future growth opportunities, supporting ongoing investments in innovation and sustainable healthcare technologies.
Digital Healthcare Supports Long-Term Sustainability
Sectra’s sustainability strategy demonstrates how digital transformation can reduce healthcare’s environmental footprint while improving patient care and operational efficiency. The combination of zero Scope 1 emissions, 54.9 percent cloud revenue growth to SEK 915.8 million, an 18 percent Scope 3 reduction target by 2027, ISO 14001-certified environmental management, and AI-powered diagnostic automation positions the company to support more sustainable healthcare delivery. By expanding cloud infrastructure, reducing travel through digital collaboration, deploying advanced AI solutions, and investing in employees, Sectra continues to strengthen environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance while helping healthcare organizations build smarter, more resilient, and lower-carbon digital healthcare systems.
