Hologic has reported progress in its environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance, achieving major reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, expanding renewable energy use, improving resource efficiency and strengthening global health equity initiatives, according to its 2025 Sustainability Report.

Hologic Sustainability Report 2025 indicated Hologic’s continued commitment to sustainable growth through its four strategic pillars — Championing Women’s Health, Protecting the Environment, Supporting Our People and Operating with Integrity. The company aligns its ESG reporting with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) frameworks to enhance transparency and accountability.

Sharon Vidal, Chief Sustainability Officer at Hologic, said the company’s long-term success is closely linked to improving women’s health while advancing sustainability.

“Together with our customers and partners, we’re taking measurable steps to increase global access to innovative medical technologies while pursuing a more sustainable and equitable future for all.”

Hologic Strengthens Net Zero Commitment with Science-Based Climate Targets

Hologic, which reported sales of $4.1 billion in 2025, accelerated its decarbonization strategy through science-based climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2030 compared with its fiscal 2020 baseline while transitioning its global operations to 100 percent renewable electricity. Hologic has also committed to reducing Scope 3 emissions by 25 percent by 2030 and achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 2050.

The SBTi validation of both the company’s emission reduction targets and long-term net zero commitment reinforces Hologic’s alignment with a 1.5°C climate pathway.

Emissions Decline as Renewable Electricity Adoption Accelerates

Hologic reported strong progress in reducing operational emissions during fiscal 2025. Absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions declined by 27 percent compared with the 2020 baseline, while operational emissions have fallen by 42 percent since 2020 through energy efficiency initiatives, facility modernization and renewable electricity procurement.

The company also achieved a 15 percent reduction in Scope 3 value chain emissions and a 17 percent reduction across combined Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions since 2020.

Renewable electricity continues to play a central role in Hologic’s climate strategy. Renewable sources accounted for 52 percent of global electricity consumption during fiscal 2025, while the leadership report highlighted renewable electricity usage at 54 percent. The company is expanding renewable energy purchasing agreements, Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs) and onsite renewable energy projects to support its transition toward fully renewable operations.

Sustainability Investments Improve Efficiency and Reduce Environmental Impact

Hologic continued investing in sustainable infrastructure, energy-efficient technologies and renewable energy systems across its operations. Investments in advanced HVAC systems, automated environmental monitoring, onsite solar installations and renewable electricity procurement have helped improve operational efficiency while reducing emissions.

One example highlighted in the report is the Newark, Delaware facility, where an 11 percent expansion in building space was accompanied by a 31 percent reduction in electricity consumption through efficient building technologies and sustainable facility design.

The company also strengthened its circular economy initiatives by redesigning diagnostic kit packaging, eliminating approximately 94,000 kilograms of raw materials annually. Additional packaging optimization, equipment refurbishment and machine takeback programs continue to improve resource efficiency and reduce waste generation across operations.

Water Conservation and Waste Diversion Continue to Improve

Hologic recorded continued progress in resource management during fiscal 2025. Water-use intensity at priority manufacturing facilities declined by 13 percent compared with the 2020 baseline through investments in monitoring systems and conservation measures.

Global landfill diversion reached 62 percent as recycling, reuse and material recovery programs expanded across manufacturing operations. In addition, 43 percent of manufacturing sites are now certified to ISO 14001 environmental management standards, while the company’s Costa Rica facility achieved Zero Waste Certification.

Health Equity and Employee Engagement Drive ESG Performance

Beyond environmental performance, Hologic continues expanding healthcare access worldwide. During 2025, the company’s diagnostic, surgical and medical imaging technologies reached approximately 199 million lives globally.

The Hologic Global Women’s Health Index, developed with Gallup, now covers 143 countries and territories representing 97 percent of the world’s female population, providing valuable insights into women’s health and healthcare access worldwide.

Employee engagement also remained a key strength. Hologic achieved a 93 percent positive employee mission alignment score, ranking in the 98th percentile of Gallup’s global engagement database, while receiving Gallup’s highest workplace recognition for the fifth consecutive year.

Outlook

Hologic’s 2025 Sustainability Report highlights measurable progress across climate action, renewable energy adoption, circular economy initiatives and global health equity. The company achieved a 27 percent reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, a 15 percent reduction in Scope 3 emissions, a 17 percent reduction in total greenhouse gas emissions, 52 percent renewable electricity adoption, 62 percent landfill diversion and a 13 percent reduction in water-use intensity since 2020. Combined with science-based climate targets, SBTi-validated net zero commitments, expanded renewable energy investments and healthcare programs reaching 199 million people, Hologic continues to strengthen its leadership in sustainable healthcare while advancing toward its 2030 emissions targets and 2050 net zero ambition.
