Today’s renewable energy news includes announcements on Cadeler, Ocean Winds, Fugro, among others.
Cadeler Mobilises Vessels for Landmark Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Project
Cadeler has mobilised its Wind Ally and Wind Orca vessels for the Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm, marking a critical step toward large-scale offshore installation. Wind Ally departed from the Port of Rotterdam and reached Teesworks’ Steel River Quay to begin monopile loading, while Wind Orca completed maintenance and mobilisation across Port Esbjerg, Odense Port and the Port of Tyne for secondary steel work. Developed by Ørsted, the 2.9GW project represents a multi-billion-euro investment and showcases innovation in heavy-lift installation, vessel efficiency, and integrated offshore logistics. Cadeler’s advanced fleet enhances execution speed and reliability. Once completed, Hornsea 3 will power over 3.3 million UK homes, boosting energy security, supporting net-zero goals, and delivering long-term environmental and economic benefits to customers and the broader energy market.
Ocean Winds Commissions EMYN Offshore Wind Farm in France
Ocean Winds has completed construction and turbine installation at the Îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier Offshore Wind Farm (EMYN), marking full commercial operation off the Vendée coast. The 61-turbine project has been generating electricity since June 2025 and can supply nearly 800,000 people annually. Delivered in under three years despite complex industrial conditions and challenging weather, the project demonstrates strong execution and innovation in offshore wind development. It supported around 2,400 jobs during construction and will sustain about 80 long-term roles. The project also strengthened France’s local industrial ecosystem, involving Siemens Gamesa and Chantiers de l’Atlantique. EMYN enhances energy security while delivering long-term environmental and economic benefits.
Fugro Secures Geotechnical Contract for Taiwan’s FengMiao II Wind Farm
Fugro has been awarded a geotechnical site investigation contract for the 600MW FengMiao II Offshore Wind Farm by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. The project forms part of Taiwan’s Round 3.2 offshore wind tender, supporting the country’s target of 13.1GW offshore wind capacity by 2030. Fugro will deliver a full suite of geotechnical services using the Taiwan-flagged vessel Pacific Hornbill, equipped with advanced drilling and seabed data acquisition technologies. The campaign highlights innovation in geo-data solutions, enabling precise foundation design and efficient project execution. Fieldwork is expected to be completed by Q3 2026. The project reinforces Fugro’s strong presence in Taiwan while contributing to energy security, renewable growth, and long-term benefits for customers and the regional energy market.
