LG Display has made significant strides in sustainability by developing eco-friendly cushioning packaging for electronic components in collaboration with Hanwha Solutions, utilizing Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) materials.

This innovative packaging, certified by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and Control Union, reduces annual carbon emissions by 520 tons — equivalent to planting nearly 57,000 30-year-old pine trees. The new material will debut in automotive display panels in January, with plans for broader application across other products.

LG Display’s OLED TV panels demonstrate their commitment to sustainability by eliminating the need for a backlight, thereby reducing plastic usage by over 90 percent compared to LCDs.

LG Display has also increased the recyclability of its products to 92.7 percent by incorporating more ferrous metal materials. These efforts have earned LG Display “Low Plastic” and “Eco-Friendly Product” certifications from international organizations, further solidifying their role as a leader in eco-conscious innovation.
