Vestas secures 495 MW order for Fengmiao I offshore wind project

Vestas has secured a 495 MW order from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) for the Fengmiao I offshore wind project off the coast of Taichung, Taiwan.

The order includes 33 V236-15.0 MW turbines and a long-term comprehensive service agreement for optimized asset performance. This marks Vestas’ first firm order for its industry-leading V236-15.0 MW turbine in Taiwan.

Vestas Asia Pacific President Purvin Patel emphasized the significance of this project as Taiwan’s first Round 3 offshore wind development, reinforcing Vestas’ commitment to advancing clean energy solutions in the region. Fengmiao I Project CEO Mark Wainwright highlighted the milestone of deploying the V236-15.0 MW turbine, underlining the project’s role in Taiwan’s energy transition.

The Fengmiao I offshore wind farm is set for completion by the end of 2027, strengthening Taiwan’s renewable energy infrastructure. Vestas’ V236-15.0 MW turbine, based on world-class technology, received type certification in 2023. Since its launch, Vestas has secured over 7 GW of firm orders globally, demonstrating its competitiveness in offshore markets.
