Renewable Energy Systems Americas (RES Americas) has placed a 166 MW order for 83 V100-2.0 MW wind turbines with Vestas for the 200 MW Pleasant Valley Wind Project in Minnesota in the United States.

The initial 34 MW was ordered in connection with signing the master supply agreement (MSA) in 2013 for multiple U.S. projects, the potential for which was totaled to 610 MW.

Vestas has secured 350 MW directly with RES Americas and the remaining 260 MW from other investors that purchased the RES Americas projects before an agreement with Vestas.

Pleasant Valley will utilize the V100-2.0 MW turbine that features a drive train and generates 13 percent more annual energy production (AEP) than the V90-1.8 MW. The order also includes an Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service agreement, an energy-based availability that ensures operation of turbines during wind blow for three years.

Chris Brown, president, sales and service division, Vestas, United States and Canada, said, “The RES Americas has now finalized the MSA through orders placed with Vestas and projects transferred to customers. With their track record and technology, company can offer the customers a business case for the wind power plants. This order further confirms RES Americas’ confidence in Vestas and the certainty of investment.”

Rob Morgan, chief development officer, RES Americas, said, “Pleasant Valley will deploy efficient technology to generate clean electricity along with low cost savings to customers in south-eastern Minnesota. Delivery of technological advances made by Vestas is essential for the wind industry to continue cutting costs while increasing clean energy production.”
