Neoen Australia is investing AUD250 million ($177.288 million) in the project.

The government of Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has set itself the target of switching 90 percent of its energy requirements to renewable energy by 2020.

And the Neoen project is to supply clean energy to ACT under a 20-year supply contract at the price of 9.2 Australian cents per kilowatt hour (6.525 cents US).

The expected annual output from the project is 400 gigawatt hours, which is the equivalent of a fifth of the territory’s annual electricity consumption.

According to a report, Siemens intends to begin construction of the project immediately.
