Scout Clean Energy, a prominent renewable energy developer-owner-operator based in Colorado, celebrated a significant milestone in the development of the Sweetland Wind Project with a Blade Signing Ceremony held just outside Miller, South Dakota. The ceremony was attended by landowners, stakeholders, and the dedicated construction team involved in this transformative project.

The Sweetland Wind Project, a 200 MW facility situated in Hand County, SD, will be owned and operated by Scout Clean Energy. The company is utilizing GE’s 2.8-127 series turbines for this venture, recognized by the American Clean Power Association (ACPA) as the most extensively deployed wind turbine in the US.

Leveraging these advanced wind turbines from GE, Sweetland is projected to generate an impressive 903,500 megawatt hours of low-cost, renewable power annually, effectively offsetting around 615,000 tons of carbon emissions each year. This achievement equates to providing carbon-free electricity to approximately 82,100 homes.

Scout Clean Energy is overseeing the construction of the Sweetland Wind Project, with Blattner Energy serving as the Balance of Plant (BOP) Contractor. The construction phase is generating over 400 temporary jobs, and once the project is operational, it will provide 10 permanent full-time positions. The economic impact on the community is expected to be substantial, with an estimated $35 million or more in new local revenues over the anticipated life of the Sweetland project.

Scout Clean Energy stands as a portfolio company of Brookfield Renewable, a global leader in renewable power platforms and one of the largest publicly traded entities of its kind. This partnership underscores Scout’s commitment to driving forward sustainable energy solutions and contributing to a cleaner, greener future.
