RWE has completed the commissioning of the 54 MW San Severo wind farm in Italy, consisting of 12 turbines, each with a capacity of 4.5 MW, supplying green electricity to 55,000 Italian households.

Katja Wunschel, CEO of RWE Renewables Europe & Australia, highlighted the successful year with milestones in renewables, including the construction of the Mondonuovo wind farm, Bosco solar farm, and investment decisions for Morcone and Acquafredda agri-PV plants, aiming to support Italy’s net zero target by 2040.

RWE engaged local communities in San Severo through a €200,000 community funding initiative, offering residents investment opportunities with returns of up to 9% gross per annum.

The company, a key player in Italy’s renewables market, operates 16 onshore wind farms with a capacity of 527 MW, supplying green electricity to 400,000 households annually.

Current projects include the 53 MW Mondonuovo wind farm in Apulia and Bosco solar plant near Palermo, with advanced Agri-PV projects Morcone and Acquafredda set to commence in spring 2025.
