Pattern Energy Group has acquired the Logan’s Gap wind project from Pioneer Green Energy.

Logan’s Gap is a 200 MW wind project coming up in Comanche County, Texas.

Pioneer Green Energy is the developer of the work which began in 2013.

A 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) has been made with Wal-Mart Stores for approximately 60 percent of the production from project.

Walmart has decided to buy the major stake of the power generated for the next decade.

American corporations are interested to invest in wind energy, realizing that a fall in cost of wind energy is good for the environment and good for business, said, Mike Garland, CEO, Pattern Development.

Besides, the Pattern Development will finance and construct the project from the fourth quarter of 2014.

The project is situated in ERCOT’s North Zone and will connect to Oncor’s 138kV Comanche‐Zephyr line, which pass through the site supplying power to the Dallas‐Fort Worth area.

Commercial operation from the project will begin in late 2015.

Logan’s Gap is an exclusive asset in the ERCOT market due to its strong wind resources. The project will move forward with the support of a solid team and excellent track record, said, Andy Bowman, president, Pioneer Green Energy.
