NextEra Energy Partners begins operation of Bluewater Wind Energy Center

NextEra Energy has announced that the Bluewater Wind Energy Center in Ontario has begun commercial operation.

The project includes of 37 turbines and is capable of generating up to 60MW of electricity, able to power 15,000 homes. The Bluewater Wind Energy Center is owned by Bluewater Wind, an indirect subsidiary of NextEra Energy Canada.

The Bluewater Wind Energy contributes electricity to Ontarians, and through this project NextEra contributes to the economy in Huron County. This project is an asset to the growing portfolio, said Armando Pimentel, president, NextEra Energy.

The Bluewater Wind Energy has invested $4 million since April 2013 and began construction in November 2013. During the construction, more than 200 local workers were given job.

Around 16 Huron County businesses also contributed to the project, providing services like labor, materials, equipment, utilities, housing as well as subcontractors.
