Gamesa, global technology providers in wind industry, has signed a contract with Alternergy, a Philippine firm, for the supply and installation of a 54MW wind farm.

According to this agreement, Gamesa team has to construct the infrastructure needed for the operation and installation of the plant.

Gamesa has to complete civil and electrical works of the farm in joint collaboration with CASA, a Philippine consortium by 2015. The consortium includes companies namely Cendaur, Ati Consulting, Santa Clara and Airnergy.

For next five years, Gamesa team will be responsible for the operation and maintenance services of Pililla Wind Farm at Philippine island of Luzon. Gamesa will have to install 27 G90-2.0MW turbines for this project.

Gamesa has established its presence in Asia executing projects for various countries like India, China and Japan by providing wind farm technology and supply and maintenance of turbines.

The company has so far installed 5,016 MW of turbines all over Asia and is maintaining 1,900 MW of them by March 2014.

The new agreement with Philippines will enhance the company’s presence in the country as this is the third contract between the two parties totalling 144 MW of wind energy production.

Wind power in Philippines accounts for a smaller percentage of the total energy output of the country. Recognized as a sector having high potential, wind power energy in Philippines is able to provide up to 76GW of power.
