AMSC has received a contract from Inox Wind to provide wind turbine electrical control systems (ECS).
The $15m contract is for the 2MW wind turbine ECS which will be delivered during fiscal year 2015, as part of the new contract.
Together with AMSC’s wind turbine design expertise and smart electrical control systems, Inox is delivering wind turbines with wide availability and power in India, said, Devansh Jain, director, Inox Wind.
With the growing business and occupying market share in India, work towards the goal of being the preferred wind solutions provider to independent power producers, utilities, and large corporations are going on, added Jain.
The features of this order from Inox will extend the existing backlog and provide with greater visibility into fiscal 2015 revenues, said, Daniel McGahn, president, CEO, AMSC.
Inox continues to execute on its growth plan and its planned IPO later this year is expected to provide the capital needed to continue on its path of being a major player in the Indian wind market, added McGahn.
It is assumed that in India, wind installations will increase to 3.5GW of installations in 2016.
