Alstom announced it will supply 127 wind turbines to Renova Energia to be installed at Umburanas wind farm.

The Umburanas wind complex will generate 355.5 MW. The amount of energy produced will be sufficient to meet the energy demands of around 700,000 people.

The wind turbines are of ECO 122, ECO 110 and ECO 100 models. Probably, the delivery will take place between January 2017 and January 2018.

The agreement for this supply was signed in 2013 along with a bulk supply of 440 wind turbines, for an installed capacity of 1.5 GW. The agreement further covers operation and maintenance services costing around €1 billion.

Yves Rannou, senior vice president, Alstom Wind business, explained, “The partnership with Renova Energia is one of the largest onshore agreements in the wind industry globally. This new order confirms the positive development of this agreement, which aims to offer sustainable and clean energy to the population.”

Alstom wind turbine technology is based on the Alstom Pure Torque rotor support concept that enables protection of the drive train from deflection loads.

Alstom builds and operates wind farms. Around 2,600 turbines are installed or under construction in 200 wind farms globally, delivering over 5,000 MW of wind energy.

In addition, Alstom has also signed contracts for turbine supply of 2.5 GW of wind power capacity in Brazil. The contract was signed on the first quarter of current fiscal year.
