Rio Energy, wind power developing group, has granted a contract to Acciona Windpower for the supply of 30×3 MW turbines for Itarema wind power complex in Brazil.
Under this contract Acciona Windpower will have to supply 21 AW 116/3000 model having rotor diameter of 116m and nine AW 125/3000 version having rotor diameter of 125m.
Acciona will also install turbines on 100m and 120m high towers of the wind power complex, which will be assembled near the farm.
Acciona has signed an agreement to purchase 39 turbines of 117MW from Rio Energy.
Christiano Forman, director, Acciona Windpower, Brazil said, “AW3000 series wind turbines are efficient and adaptable to the wind power potential of the country. These turbines comply with the local operation needs in Brazil as per FINAME regulation.”
The wind power plant will consist of an operational hub manufacture plant complemented with a nacelle factory to be finished by late 2014.
Turbine components like blades and other smaller parts will be purchased from local suppliers. Acciona Windpower has already undertaken wind farm projects in various countries.
