Windel Energy and Recurrent Energy have secured planning permission from Rhonda Cynon Taf council for 9.9MW Welsh solar farm located at Talbot Green.

The solar farm will be connected to the Talbot Green substation at Ynysmaerdy.

The planning consent marks Windel Energy’s third planning permission this year.

In May, Cumberland Council consented another joint development with Recurrent Energy for the Harker 200MW/400MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) located in Carlisle.

In July, the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero,Ed Miliband, granted a Development Consent Order (DCO) for the 350MWp Mallard Pass Solar Farm.

Jamie Knott, MD at Windel Energy said: “This is the third permission granted for Windel Energy in only a matter of months and we look forward to securing further permissions this year that will help the UK meet its climate goals and provide a more affordable and secure energy future.”

The 9.9MW Talbot Green solar farm is expected to connect in 2025 following, what is expected to be, a six-month construction programme.  The site will comprise several agricultural fields with photovoltaic panels orientated in a south facing alignment. The detailed design of the connection is being agreed with the DNO.

Windel Energy has more than 1.5 gigawatts of clean, renewable solar power, 3 gigawatts of battery energy storage and 150MW of onshore wind at various stages of development.

Recurrent Energy has completed 9 GW of operating solar projects and three gigawatt hours of energy storage projects across six continents.
