Greentech Lead America: WEPOWER Ecolutions, an Energy
Service Company (ESCo), announced it has procured a project to install its
Falcon 12kW Vertical Axis Wind Turbine at Crain Memorial Welcome Center,
located at 12480 Crain Highway, Newburg, Maryland.
“We are very pleased to secure this wind turbine
project opportunity, and with our partners, to support achieving the goals of
Charles County, Maryland, by utilizing more sustainable and renewable energy
sources,” said Kevin Donovan, CEO of WEPOWER Ecolutions.
WEPOWER Ecolutions is an integrator of Clean Energy
Technology Solutions. For this Crain Highway wind turbine project, the company
is working with its wind-energy partners including All In Energy Solutions,
InterMountain Wind and Solar, Jet Industries LLC and Metal Foundations
Industries for the complete installation of the Falcon 12kW Vertical Axis Wind
Turbine.
In 2011, Charles County’s efforts to install an
energy-saving wind turbine at the Crain Memorial Welcome Center in
Newburg had received a generous boost as Governor Martin O’Malley announced the
local government would receive a $50,000 grant from the Maryland Clean Energy
Center.
The project will be supported by the grant, which will
cover the cost of the installation, costs of the WEPOWER Eco Falcon Wind
Turbine, and other services rendered to produce sustainable electrical power to
the Charles County-operated Welcome Center on U.S. Route 301.
“We’re grateful to the governor’s office and the
vision of the Charles County leadership and project teams for their commitment
to renewable energy ecolutions to preserve the environment while educating the
visitors who come to enjoy the traditions and beauty of the region of Charles
County, Maryland, Where Eagles Fly,” Donovan added.
Charles County’s project is one of only 10 clean energy
projects across the state selected by the Maryland Clean Energy Center to
receive funding assistance supplied by the U.S. Department of Energy through
the Maryland Energy Administration.
