Waaree Energies based in Mumbai is developing solar projects worth 44 MW in Central Japan.
Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Technology and Industry (METI) has approved these projects.
The project is developed under the feed-in tariff with Tokyo Electric Power at 36 Yen per KwH.
The projects are scheduled for completion within the next 18 months.
Right now, the company is pursuing a pipeline of 200 MW in Japan for 2015.
Waaree Japan KK was established in Tokyo in 2014 with an aim of developing the Japan market for project development and PV module sales.
Japan is a key market for Waaree in addition to UK, Americas and Middle East regions.
Waaree Energies already runs a 250 MW PV module manufacturing plant in Surat.
In November 2014, Waaree announced the collaboration with GT Advanced Technologies for technology development and manufacture in the solar field.
Both companies have plans to develop and deliver to the Indian market innovative solar products incorporating GT Advanced Technologies’ patented Merlin interconnect system.
