By 2021, solar power capacity of the UAE could be enhanced by 100 megawatts.

The country is planning to install solar power stations in the region for 500 million dirhams, according to Emirates News Agency, or WAM.

As part of the project, Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa) has plans to launch a farm in partnership with the private sector this year.

The project will help build an integrated environment for all regions of the country and will be subject to supervision of the Federal Authority, WAM has reported.

In keeping with the national agenda for 2021, the country is expected to work on providing 24 percent of solar energy capacity this year and work is in progress to adopt a comprehensive study of the project. Tenders will be called for the project in cooperation with the private sector.

Mohammad Mohammad Saleh, the director general of Fewa, has told WAM that the authority was keen to provide the best electricity and water services across the emirates, and to contribute to sustainable development and improving the standard of living within the next six years.
