Trinasolar, a leader in smart photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage solutions, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Solaris Energy, a solar distributor in Sri Lanka, to collaborate on the deployment of 25 megawatt-peak (MWp) of solar modules.

The agreement, inked at SNEC 2025 in Shanghai — the world’s largest solar industry event — marks a strategic step forward for both companies in accelerating renewable energy adoption in South Asia.

The MOU reflects Trinasolar’s commitment to the South Asian market, where the company is expanding its presence through high-efficiency, utility-scale solar deployments. Under the agreement, Solaris Energy will nominate Trinasolar as a key technology partner for large-scale solar projects, subject to definitive contracts.

“This partnership with Solaris Energy marks an important milestone in our long-term commitment to Sri Lanka’s renewable energy journey,” said Elva Wang, Group Director for South, Southeast and Central Asia at Trinasolar Asia Pacific. “We aim to deliver reliable, high-efficiency solar infrastructure using our Vertex N modules, tailored to meet Sri Lanka’s grid and climate conditions.”

At the core of this collaboration is Trinasolar’s Vertex N series, which leverages advanced n-type i-TOPCon cell technology to deliver higher energy yields, superior temperature performance, and lower Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE). These bifacial modules are engineered to withstand Sri Lanka’s tropical climate while maximizing energy output, making them ideal for both grid-tied and utility-scale deployments.

Solaris Energy has 135MW of installed capacity. Solaris Energy has 4,700 clients across residential, commercial, and institutional sectors. For Solaris Energy, the partnership represents an opportunity to integrate globally trusted PV technology into Sri Lanka’s clean energy infrastructure.

“This MOU represents a powerful step forward in delivering future-ready infrastructure that strengthens Sri Lanka’s energy resilience,” said T. Thiriyambagan, CEO of Solaris Energy.

The deal was signed in Shanghai and witnessed by Todd Li, President of Trinasolar Asia Pacific, and Thiriyambagan of Solaris Energy, symbolizing the companies’ shared vision for a sustainable future.

The partnership aligns with Sri Lanka’s national goals to increase renewable energy penetration in its energy mix and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Trinasolar, already a global force with strong execution across the Asia Pacific region, brings its proven track record of delivering bankable, high-efficiency solar technology, while Solaris contributes deep market knowledge and operational expertise within Sri Lanka.
