Trina Solar has marked a significant industry achievement by surpassing the 100-gigawatt (GW) mark in shipments of its 210mm modules within a span of three years.
This milestone, reached by the end of November, solidifies Trina Solar’s leadership in shipments, power output, and standardization of module dimensions within the solar industry, following the introduction of the 210mm module to the market in 2020.
Capitalizing on the advanced technology of the 210mm product platform, Trina Solar’s golden-sized modules offer elevated power output, efficiency, reliability, and energy yield while simultaneously reducing the levelized cost of energy (LCOE).
By the third quarter of the current year, Trina Solar’s cumulative module shipments had exceeded 170GW, underscoring their continued industry dominance.
Pioneering the adoption of 210mm modules, Trina Solar has championed the technology. Their launch of the 210mm Vertex modules in February 2020 set the stage for ultra-high power in the photovoltaic (PV) industry.
The establishment of the 600W+ PV Open Innovation Ecological Alliance facilitated seamless integration across the crystal pulling, slicing, cell, and module processes in collaboration with partners. Since 2021, Trina Solar has introduced the Vertex 670W and Vertex N 700W modules, spearheading the industry into the 600W+ and 700W+ era, leveraging the potential of the 210mm technology platform.
Furthermore, Trina Solar has taken proactive steps in standardizing the dimensions of 210mm modules. Collaborating with five other leading PV manufacturers, the company initiated a joint effort focused on 700W+ modules on December 12, 2023.
In July, nine module manufacturers, including Trina Solar, unanimously agreed upon standardizing the dimensions of rectangular silicon wafer modules to 2382mm x 1134mm, based on Trina Solar’s 210R modules. This collaborative effort spearheaded by Trina Solar in 2021 resulted in establishing a group standard for dimensions and mounting hole locations of 210mm wafer modules.
The pervasive adoption of 210mm products has emerged as a significant trend in the global PV industry. The comprehensive 210mm product technology platform, in conjunction with other innovations, is poised to further enhance efficiency and decrease the LCOE.
