Texas Solar Power Association (TSPA) announced a mission to encourage the developments of solar electric generation in Texas.
The development aims to meet the growing demands for affordable electric power in the country. The coalition includes businesses in Texas that are focused on wholesale and retail electric market opportunities.
E.ON, First Solar, Recurrent Energy and Sun Power Corporation are the founding board members of TSPA, operating from Texas. Charter TSPA membership includes manufacturers and large-scale power plant developers active in solar supply chain.
Charlie Hemmeline, executive director, TSPA, said, “Solar now has become affordable using market-ready technologies. Developing the state’s solar resource will diversify electricity supply base, increase economic development and provide long-term price stability. ”
Solar installations vary in size from a few kilowatts on a rooftop to solar power plants generating hundreds of megawatts.
Josh Grubaugh, president, TSPA, said, “Peak solar generation is correlated with peak energy demands, making it an ideal choice to cost-effectively meet the energy needs. The investment made in expanded transmission and ERCOT’s experience integrating diverse resources on the grid make the state ideal for large-scale solar development projects”.
“Solar is the next generation source on the market and Texas ought to be a bigger part of this growth. Texas can support continued market innovation and eliminate barriers to entry for solar power,” Grubaugh added.
