Swift Current Energy has announced the tax equity financing for its 138 MWdc Harvest Gold Solar Project in Sunflower County, Mississippi, marking a key addition to the region’s renewable energy landscape. Here are the highlights:
The project now powers over 23,000 homes annually, with Target Corporation purchasing all energy and renewable energy credits produced by Harvest Gold to progress toward its Net Zero by 2040 goal.
Harvest Gold Solar is expected to reduce regional CO2 emissions by over 175,000 tons annually and contribute more than $1.4 million per year in tax revenue to Sunflower County. Swift Current has committed an additional $1.5 million over 20 years to local charities, including support for the Fannie Lou Hamer Cancer Foundation.
The project created approximately 250 jobs at its peak and achieved over 270,000 safe person-hours during construction.
Partnering with Moss as the EPC firm, the project utilized US-manufactured First Solar Series 7 modules and collaborated with Entergy to build the Round Lake switching station for local grid interconnection.
With Harvest Gold, Swift Current’s renewable energy portfolio grows toward 1 GW by year’s end, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainable energy and long-term community relationships in Mississippi.
