Natcore Technology and the Denzo Pty have begun planning for Natcore Australia, a joint venture that will produce solar cells and solar panels in Australia, with Australia as the headquarters.
The joint venture will initially go on with available technologies, welcoming innovative adoptions in future. Natcore Australia will have access to Natcore’s property portfolio in Australia. Financing will be sponsored by both government and private sources.
The parties have begun to explore land, facility and labor costs, sales potential and availability of government assistance at various levels.
Denzo has narrowed the future site for the facility to one of two locations, the city of Orange, NSW, and Wellcamp, Queensland.
Natcore has submitted factory layouts for a 30 MW per year – 100 MW per year solar cell production facility. Natcore is preparing equipment recommendations and they are putting forward items that would be selected from manufacturers of different countries. Each piece of equipment should be the best according to criteria agreed upon with Denzo.
Chuck Provini, president, CEO, Natcore, said, “We have no biases or no conflicts of interest in making appropriate decisions. In addition to being a partner company, the joint venture will also be a customer. Natcore Australia will pay royalties for our technology, and they will buy our chemicals.”
Ken Mathews, managing director, Denzo, said, “Natcore was selected after due diligence on solar technologies throughout the world. Denzo is confident of success using the Natcore technology.”
Denzo was started in Australia in 1965 with auto service stations and retail tire outlets. In 1982, the company was converted to Denzo Pty with its headquarters in Terrigal, NSW.
Denzo Pty has been involved in alternative fuels, import and export, manufacturing and retail sales with operations worldwide.
